Marian McEvoy

I think of my motifs and patterns as ‘indoor gardening.’ Most of the shapes and colors I concoct don’t exactly exist in nature, but I wish they did! Imperfect, a little kinetic, a lot graphic, frankly folklorique, and very willed, I hope they bring a sense of whimsy and pleasure to everyone living with them.

-Marian McEvoy

A self-described “craftsperson,” Marian McEvoy spent most of her career as an editor. McEvoy was the European editor of Women’s Wear Daily and W in Paris, the founding editor of Elle Décor, and editor-in-chief of House Beautiful. McEvoy has even graced Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. In 2002, Marian retired in Wappinger Falls, New York, where she has since been creating in her workshop. She has brought this natural artistry and eye for beauty to her collection with Schumacher.
